My aim since my residency began, was to churn out one concept a week. This week I have sent out ‘Bro & Sis convo’. This is a working title, which explores a private conversation between siblings about current issue(s). The ideas have been pushed to Studio Director and mentor for critical appraisal. The email response and wait can be quite daunting. The designer in me, just can’t help myself create work to finish or near completion. Usually, the feedback from Steve is about development, or reflection. We wait and see.
I met Kev a few days ago. We had a lengthy discussion about Art, Fitness and Politics. It amazes me how people undervalue their work. I was blown away by one of the pieces he created using recycled product. It was tucked away in a corner.
I met Ali, having been to her solo show last week. The embroidery work is dynamic and has so much depth. I haven’t really had a chance to discuss further because her work is being displayed in the studionAme gallery space for 2 weeks.
