My favourite colour is Pink. Not sure why I started with that.
Here is the rest…
My parents came from Gujarat, India in the 1960s. I was born and raised in Leicester, UK. We went through the usual schooling system. After school, we were given firm understanding of Islamic theory from age 5 to 13. I grew up in a financially poor environment where crime and social disadvantage was normal. As with most immigrants, hard work ethics and discipline were important family values.
Hard work and some visual communication skill is all I have. I completed further education in Northampton.
This rounded education and the thirst for reading, influences my work. I use social, religious and political dialogue, to challenge ideas and concepts. I am constantly looking, observing and reflecting. I enjoy making and looking at pretty pictures/videos.
I would not call myself an artist or designer, the pigeonhole titles, would be best suited to others. I think my work is about visual communication, I have a passion for typography which is fuelled by English, Arabic, Gujarati and Urdu studies.
I love that word…I have been reflecting, hoarding and creating art during my free time. I did this for no particular reason, just self-gratification and enjoyment. A leaflet by StudionAme, came through the post (15.10.2017) seeking artwork from residents of St Matthews, Leicester. The submitted art was created 8 years prior, on my mini £30 Wacom tablet from Aldi, and a rather cumbersome PC. I was fortunate to trap some appreciation and recognition for this piece. I was given the opportunity to do a solo show. So here we are…
