Today is the final day for the St Matthew’s Art show 2019. The visitor count has been a lot lower than I expected. The opening times are from 3-8pm. The low footfall, has allowed me to work on my work backlog and plan for newer projects. The process of planning is very important to me. This allows me to define a clear path to my target.
The next project is a collaborative process. I will be working with Steven Allbutt, my art mentor and current Director at studionAme.
Friday 30.08.2019 was the private viewing for the St Matthew’s Art show 2019. A project for the St Matthew’s community, for the wider community.
Bringing different sections of the community together in collaboration. This is the 2nd time we are running the event. The previous winners of 2017, now facilitating this project from start to finish.
Access to creative skills and discourse is freedom to do and, to express yourself. To make informed decisions for the right reasons. We want to empower the local makers to organise and implement their own programme for their community.
ST MATTHEW’S ART COMPETITION
The competition was designed and opened to the St Matthew’s residence only. There were no boundaries, residence just needed to create and submit their work. We received some dynamic entries this year. Age range from 6 to over 60, and can be seen within the grey wall area. Thanks to all those that have entered this year’s competition. Here are the breakdown of the prizes:
The winners were:
ST MATTHEW’S SCHOOL WORKSHOPS
Delivered and hosted at the studio, the workshops were designed to engage with the local school
children. The 4 sessions were organised to embrace artistic opportunities within a creative environment.
Followed by studio tours, the workshop was delivered in 2 hour time slots. Some images and works
have been displayed to the right.
ST MATTHEW’S CROCHET CLASS & YARN BOMBING
Crochet classes were hosted on Tuesday over 6 weeks. The aim was to decorate a Silver Birch Tree
in memory of Austin Jackson. The wall opposite showing process and delivery.
Here are some pictures from the show:
Thank you to St Matthew’s Big Local for the support.
I have been working on getting the St Matthew’s Art show 2019. The artwork is ready to be hung and displayed at the studionAme gallery space. The hope is to try and get this installed over the duration of this weekend. This process has was about engaging with the community. Although, I had very little input in running the Crochet workshop, I am delighted to be leading and taking control of bringing this show within the community for the community. Look forward to seeing you there, perhaps.
Here is the final poster.
Exactly 2 weeks today, studionAme will be hosting the St Matthew’s Art show 2019. The private view is on 30.08.2019 between 6-8pm. If you can’t catch the show at this time, feel free to pop round between 31.08.2019 – 07.09.2019. The opening times for public viewing is 3-8pm.
To do list
1. Install artwork from the St Matthew’s community.
2. Install works by the school children from the local community.
3. Print and install images of crochet classes.
4. Organise marketing material and promote.
5. Organise snacks and bites for Private View.
6. Get drinks for PV.
I would like to get all artwork installed as soon as possible. Ideally before 26th of August.
The snacks, face to face promotion can be extended to the following week.
Yesterday was the final day for the St Matthew’s community to submit once piece of their work. The artwork will be displayed in the ‘St Matthew’s Art show 2019’ held at the end of this month. There will be a variety of skills on display.
The process has been energising for me personally. I have got to meet, many new people. Some brand new to the art scene, and others that have gone through the art cycle.
We are on the final stages now. The process of setting up, organising and promoting begins. The process starts next week.
