Friday 30.08.2019 was the private viewing for the St Matthew’s Art show 2019. A project for the St Matthew’s community, for the wider community.

Bringing different sections of the community together in collaboration. This is the 2nd time we are running the event. The previous winners of 2017, now facilitating this project from start to finish.

Access to creative skills and discourse is freedom to do and, to express yourself. To make informed decisions for the right reasons. We want to empower the local makers to organise and implement their own programme for their community.

ST MATTHEW’S ART COMPETITION
The competition was designed and opened to the St Matthew’s residence only. There were no boundaries, residence just needed to create and submit their work. We received some dynamic entries this year. Age range from 6 to over 60, and can be seen within the grey wall area. Thanks to all those that have entered this year’s competition. Here are the breakdown of the prizes:

The winners were:

ST MATTHEW’S SCHOOL WORKSHOPS
Delivered and hosted at the studio, the workshops were designed to engage with the local school
children. The 4 sessions were organised to embrace artistic opportunities within a creative environment.
Followed by studio tours, the workshop was delivered in 2 hour time slots. Some images and works
have been displayed to the right.

ST MATTHEW’S CROCHET CLASS & YARN BOMBING
Crochet classes were hosted on Tuesday over 6 weeks. The aim was to decorate a Silver Birch Tree
in memory of Austin Jackson. The wall opposite showing process and delivery.
